Day 1!

What a great day! I am so thankful that my mom and step-father were able to drop us off...it's great for them to see Amicalola falls s.p. and get an ever deeper understanding of the AT...they will be periodically seeing me along the trail which will be fun...

I am so thankful to be out here and have this experience all over again...the trail is like nothing else and I love what it provides me...I love the physical challenge of it - the sweating, the huge thigh building...I love meeting random hikers, which by the way I saw two people I knew at springer mountain shelter...crazy...I love being outside in the clean air, surrounded by spring green, drinking fantastic water...the stars are killer right now...

We settled in to our first night rather comfortably, i set up the tent, Jill got the water and then we made dinner...There are a couple of other thru hikers here with family and a couple of weekenders...there definitely is not as many people here as I woulda thought but I'm certainly not disappointed with that... We got an awesome tent spot and are tucked away nicely for the evening...I am really tired!

Overall, great first day...

* after re-reading that for coherency, I can see just how tired my brain is...this is literally all I can come up with for now!
